Coupon Lingo and Abbreviations

Here is an explanation of some of the common coupon lingo and abbreviations used on my blog and most couponing sites!  Hope it helps!  If you see something in a post that doesn't make sense, feel free to leave a comment and I will be sure to explain!  Thanks!

Deal Terms:

B1G1 or BOGO ~ buy one get one, usually followed by free or 50% off

MIR ~ Mail in Rebate

FAR ~ Free after Rebate

MM ~ Money Maker

RR ~ Register Rewards, these are catalinas that print out at Walgreens

ECB ~ Extra Care Bucks, these print after your receipt at CVS

DND- do not double, this is on the top of some coupons and most stores won't double the coupon if it states this

OOP ~ out of pocket, this is the actual money you pay for something

SCR ~ Single Check Rebate, Rite Aid's reward system

UP+ ~ Rite Aid's Up Rewards

WYB ~ when you buy

YMMV ~ your mileage may vary, also know as it might work :)




Types of Coupons:

Cat or Catalina ~ coupon dispensed at the register after ringing up, this is separate from the reciept

TP or Tearpad ~ this is a coupon that is generally found hanging near a product in the store, you "tear" one off the pad

Blinkie ~ this is a coupon found in stores from little machines that "blink" and spit out coupons

IP ~ Internet printable coupons

MF or MQ ~ Manufacturer's coupon, this differs from store coupons that are generally only good in the store they are from

Insert ~ coupons that come in the Sunday paper
  RP- Red Plum Insert
  SS- Smart Source Insert
  P&G - Proctor & Gamble Insert
  GM- General Mills Insert

Peelie ~ coupon that you "peel" off of a product to use

ONYO ~ on your next order- these are catalina coupons 

eCoupon ~ these can be downloaded to your store card and come off automatically when you purchase the product
